Medal Tests

Through all of our classes, for both children and adults, it is possible to take place in IDTA Medal Tests in all the Ballroom and Latin American Dances. We hold a medal test at Simpson School every February and July. This involves dancing through your chosen routines in front of an external IDTA examiner and being assessed in various different categories.

 Rosette Awards are a set pattern performed in 12 different Ballroom, Latin American and Old Time Dances. Designed for children from 3 to 8 years.

Star Dance Awards are a set pattern performed in many different Ballroom, Latin American and Old Time Dances, (each child being able to collect a maximum of 12)  Designed for children from 6 to 10 years.

From here both children and adults can move on to do one dance grades in all the Ballroom and Latin American Dances and then Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals, each grade becoming more and more challenging and advanced.
